Crimson Moon Guide
Demon Brute (Prologue Boss)
Why losing the Gildenarch prologue boss is fine — attack patterns, lives, and when to stop fighting.
Last updated: September 2, 2026
Quick Answer
Mission completes on death OR kill. Bait Overhead Slam, punish recovery, don't burn consumables. Last life at high boss HP — let it end.
What the game wants
The Demon Brute isn't a skill gate — it's a tutorial under pressure. Learn dodge, parry, and resource discipline. Health pool is tuned for starting gear; wasting heals here hurts Mission I.

Attack table
| Attack | Counter |
|---|---|
| Overhead Slam | Sidestep or parry — longest recovery; bait this |
| Horizontal Swipe | Dodge back or parry |
| Stomp | Dodge away from foot; shockwave |
| Charge | Sidestep early, punish from behind |
My loop: bait Overhead Slam → 2–3 hits → retreat.
Lives
You revive with limited lives. True death (out of lives) loses run progress. Down to last life with Brute still high? Stop fighting — mission completion is the goal.
Win vs lose
Both outcomes unlock Sanctus Silius. Beating him may give a small bonus in some builds, but story and hub access are the same — don't stress.
