Aggelos 2 Guide
Aggelos 2: Beginners' Tips
Controls, forms, beacons, 100 eggs / 20 hearts, Lys rescue, red ? items, arrow puzzles, Challenger achievement, and what I tried when stuck.
Last updated: September 24, 2026
Quick Answer
Sword > X. LT+Y forms. 100 eggs, 20 hearts max. Full map still hides plain-sight eggs. Lys = north light room, then southeast collapse. Challenger = Good Ending on Hard.
Hi, I'm Vook, a middle-aged coder who likes playing games a little too much.
This page is beginners' habits and FAQ from my Aggelos 2 run — controls, eggs, Lys, arrow secrets, that sort of thing. Same caveat as the hub: personal notes, not exhaustive. If something worked differently for you, leave a comment.
I thought 94 eggs and a full map meant I was done — Aggelos 2 still had six eggs in plain sight and a tall northeast corner laughing at me.
Boss order: walkthrough hub. Coordinate pins: interactive map. Speed run: S Rank route.
Controls (from my first hour)
| Input | What it does |
|---|---|
| Select | Map — open constantly |
| Hold Y | Absorb sword / ability pickups |
| X | Light attack — slow on shields |
| Sword button | Melee — main damage after Angel Sword |
| A | Fly (after celestial statue) |
| RT | Lock flight direction (full behaviour may need later unlock) |
| LT + Y | Angel ↔ Demon form swap |
| LB | Grappling hook (after unlock) |
| Beacon button | Drop map marker at current tile |
Light-shield grunts need two sword hits — do not spam X and wonder why nothing dies.
Forms and map habits come next — then the FAQ blocks where I actually got stuck mid-run.
Angel vs Demon (Old Castle / Well of Hell)
After Badu:
- Angel / light — absorb light hits.
- Demon / dark — absorb dark hits; walk into shadows; disarm shadow traps.
- Puzzles — same room, different form, different path.
Dark vials: speed boost, not healing — caught me off guard in Urkiel.
Map, beacons, saves, totems
From the JSON route notes — how I actually play:
| System | What I do |
|---|---|
Map (Select) |
Track gray blocked paths vs open routes |
| Beacons | Drop before bosses; cycle white / purple / green / blue for note types |
| Gray beacons (on map) | “Ability missing” — not “skip forever” |
| Safe spots (circles) | Save + refill vials for 20 orbs |
| Star totems | Fast travel between discovered totems |
| Totem shields | Buy before nasty rooms — extra buffer per revive |
Shield ability (combat block): eats resources for one hit — fine for learning, I drop it on S Rank attempts.
Orbs, shop, alchemist
- Orb containers — wallet size (100 → 200 → 300…).
- Pendant + jewel — vacuum orbs from farther away; Bosco shop early.
- Alchemist — Divine Tears → skill upgrades.
- Fortune teller — vague hint NPC when I am lost (still use the map).
- Egg collector — deposit eggs for tier rewards (7 eggs = red reward tier in village).
100 eggs and 20 hearts — totals that matter
Mystical eggs: 100 total scattered across light and dark maps. Many sit in plain sight — easy to walk past. I have no perfect filter for missing ones; I sweep with the interactive map pink markers and re-walk yellow Req: gates after each new ability.
Heart containers: 20 max. I only remember 2 sold in shops — the rest are pickups in the world (plus egg-turn-in rewards on some routes).
Upper-right tall zone on a full map reveal? That needs Wings 3, which itself wants all 100 eggs collected first. If you are at 94 eggs and 18 hearts with everything else unlocked, you are not soft-locked — you are missing scattered pickups, not a secret flag.
Stuck checklist — what I tried (and what worked)
“I have 94 eggs / 18 hearts and full map — where is the rest?”
What I wrongly assumed: full map + dark map = automatic 100%.
What actually happened: six eggs were on routes I had already cleared but never looked up/down on.
What worked:
- Re-run map hover — every pink egg pin vs your inventory count.
- Revisit zones after hook, push spell, heavy push — eggs hide behind ability gates, not behind story flags.
- Upper-right tower and top-left big block room stay gray until 100 eggs + Wings 3 — not missing eggs inside those zones yet; missing prerequisites to enter.
“Top-left big block — I have the upgrade but no wall to hook”
What I wrongly assumed: hook the block directly in its room.
What actually worked:
- Go to the previous room — there is a movable block.
- Push it down, then left.
- Grapple that block and launch toward the big-block chamber.
- While swinging, move up/down so you do not slam side walls mid-flight.
- Reach the large block room with momentum — then use your push / heavy push upgrade on the target block.
No hook point in the block room itself is normal. The puzzle starts one room earlier.
“Where is Lys? I have all shadow stones”
Hint text: “heavenly looking room” — vague on purpose.
What I tried first: searching dark world castles at random. Waste of time.
What worked:
- Light world, north, small room near the starting region — same general area as black skeleton statues that spam large red orbs, and near the north third angel boss zone (Zephyr temple neighbourhood on the map).
- Meet Lys there first.
- Then go southeast to where the ceiling collapsed and blocked the path — a switch that looks like it needs two people.
- Use push blocks / heavy push (or co-op if you have it) to hold both sides — route detail in S Rank Part 2 (
29,10 Rescue Lys).
Story gate for Deluge: six stones + Lys Padu — Lys is not optional fluff.
“Hard mode clear — why no Challenger achievement?”
What I checked:
| Attempt | Challenger? |
|---|---|
| Hard + Bad Ending (die to story branch / game over) | No — Bad Ending counts as failure for this |
| Hard + Good Ending (Deluge defeated properly) | Yes — this is what popped it for me |
If you beat bosses on Hard but got Bad Ending, replay for Good Ending — hub Deluge section + Lys above.
“Red question mark items — what are they for?”
Not junk. You need all three red ? pickups in inventory for the arrow-wall secret.
What I did:
- Collect every red question pin on the map (S Rank route hits
33,63,46,51, etc.). - Find two wall-arrow sign clusters (see next section).
- They point toward a hidden room — I marked the suspected tile on the dark map marker tool.
- Stand still under the hidden spot until it unlocks (patience — not a bug).
“Arrow signs on walls — puzzle or decoration?”
Puzzle. Two clusters matter:
| Region | Look for |
|---|---|
| North | Dark clouds + bird area |
| East | Red walls, small room near spikes |
Trial route that worked for me:
- Stand at each arrow mural — note which direction they point.
- Trace both on the dark world map — intersection is the hidden room.
- Place a beacon/marker on that tile so you do not second-guess.
- Confirm all 3 red
?items owned. - Go to the spot, stand still, wait for the unlock animation.
Skipping any ? item or moving too early = nothing happens — looks broken, is just strict.
Collectibles — JSON priority list
| Item | Why bother early |
|---|---|
| Grappling hook | Half the map literally |
| Thousand Sword Scroll | Hook damage while swinging |
| Geyser spell | Upward attack — some gates list Req: Geyser |
| Heart pieces / vials | Boss learning tax |
| Mystical eggs | 100 total; gate Wings 3 and northeast tower |
Deposit eggs at Bosco collector when you want orb/heart payouts — S Rank route delays turn-in until armor breakpoints.
Shadow World habits
- Red shiny doors → boss arenas.
- Urkiel / Erkiel — HP bar colour shift before nukes; phase 2 floating object must die.
- Well of Hell — fuzzy boss + form tutorial; pendant range helps orb starving.
Mistakes I made (so you skip them)
- Counting map % as egg %.
- Hooking in the wrong room for the top-left block.
- Hunting Lys in Shadow World first.
- Assuming Hard clear = Challenger without Good Ending.
- Standing on the arrow secret while moving — must hold still.
- Dark vials for healing mid-boss.
That is the short list — for chapter order and boss screenshots, use the hub walkthrough. Coordinates live on the map; speed route on S Rank.
